Isaac Pforzheimer New York Cast Iron 5 Cent Adding Bank

A wonderful, cast iron, Isaac PForzheimer NY, 5 cent adding, mechanical bank from the late 19th Century.

Circa 1889 and measures 5" tall, 4 1/4" wide and 2 1/2 depth.

Stenciled in gold and bronze on the top of the back panel, Pat'd. Aug. 20th, 1889.

Features an all over black with gold and bronze stenciling and decorations appear on the sides and top sides with perforated castings with holes on the back. Stenciling on the front reads, 5C Adding Bank with beautiful decoration on the door below.

The mechanism is done by depositing nickels in the slot opening at the top right. Once the nickel is deposited, it will be indicated in increments of 5, which it will go from 5 to 95 at the small window opening at the top. Once the 20th nickel is deposited, the front section under the wording, adding bank, swings open automatically and at the same time, the other window at the top, the number 1 appears. This will continue up to 9 and then it will go back to 0. The front opening is to be closed manually after each 20th nickel.

This bank is good condition and the patina is beautiful. Wear commensurate with age and use. We did notice a minor repair.
