JAPANESE TAISHO PERIOD FIGURAL BUDDAH BRONZE URN WITH ELEPHANT HANDLES - CIRCA 1915
Gorgeous Japanese Taisho Period figural Buddha bronze urn.
Circa 1915 and measures 5 1/8" tall, 4 1/8" diameter at the top opening and 2 15/16" diameter at the base.
Marked on the base, Japan and some marks, which we believe to be the artist; however, after trying to research the characters, I was unable to interpret it. If you happen to know what the characters read, we would love to hear from you!
This urn is absolutely beautiful featuring figural images of a Buddha with a guard on one side, the other side has another Buddha along with what looks to be someone bowing before him. The sides have beautifully sculpted elephant handles. The patina is just exquisite.
It is in nice condition, having no cracks, hairlines or repairs. The base with the marking, has one minor dent, but this does not at all take away from this gorgeous piece.
