Briar pipes are most Native to France and Corsica, an Island in the Mediterranean Sea belonging to France. They are made from nodules born in the ground, which is the heath tree (Erica Arborea). Artisans use briar, as it has a natural resistance to fire, its inherent ability to absorb moisture and they tend to use the plateaux, which is the outer part of the burl, due to its wonderful graining.
This is a beautiful Estate piece and would be a beautiful addition to any tobacciana collector. Just stunning to look at and we love the monkey.
