Bodil Eje, Signed, 9" Richly Hand Painted Copper Enameled Bowl
Beautiful Bodil Eje, signed, hand painted richly enameled copper, shaped bowl.
Measures 9” in diameter and is signed Bodil Eje.
The bowl is done, hand painted, with rich colorful designs. There is some light scratching on the bowl, as the photos show.
Bodil Eje (1931-2006) was born in Frederiksberg, Denmark as the daughter of the painter Thorvald Hagedorn-Olsen.
Self-taught. Inspired to work with the transparent enamel colors at the meeting with works by the French artist Georges Rouault. She reached the optimal quality with enamel on copper both in crafts and decoration where she shaped the flexible copper plate for dishes or pictures with reliefs in, among other things, boxes and tiles and for example to the Carlsberg brewery with a decoration consisting of four large, deep blue and golden reliefs. Her imagery was abstract and characterized by organic forms. She received the Henry Heerup Award and twice the C.L. David's Prize. She exhibited both in Denmark and abroad, including at the Nordic Enamel Triennial in 1990.
This would be a great addition for any copper or Bodil Eje collector. Enjoy!!!!!
