Dutch Painting, Manner of Gerard Ter Borch, Interior Oil on Wood Panel
Wonderful late 17th Century Dutch interior oil painting on wood panel of an affluent Dutch Couple with their child.
The father is teasing the child with grapes, while the mother bounces the child on her knee. A gentleman is dressed in handsome clothing with a ruff collar, while the lady is dressed in an expensive dress for the period, as is the child. The upper part of the room has a great large leaded glass window on the upper right and below the window there is a shield crest mirror.
There is so much the artist captured in this painting, from a full fireplace in the pantry kitchen area to the early furnishings of the period.
This painting is much in the manner of Gerard Ter Borch with so much being captured, such as figures, utensils, kitchen, fireplace and furniture.
In wonderful condition for the period. It was under separated glass for years, since removed over the years.
Interesting that the painting has original wax sealed paperwork attached to the back. (The protective seal over this paperwork can be removed, if you wish.) The beautiful frame, which is not original to the panel, is about 100 years old, a wonderful choice for this early piece, however. The frame is 19 inches by 22 inches and the panel visibly is 14 inches by 17 inches.
An extremely rare find in this condition, a must for any Dutch collector at a reasonable price. Enjoy!!!
