Flemish Bronze Sculpture, Venus Fiorenza Water Fountain, After Giambologna
Beautiful bronze sculpture from the 19th Century, Venus Anadyomene after noted Flemish Sculptor Giambologna (born Jean de Boulogne, 1529-1608).
Circa 1840 and measures 52 1/2” tall with the base. The height of the sculpture itself is 49” tall.
We believe that this sculpture was taken from the original mold, done in the late 18th Century, which was done after the original.
This statue is also known as Venus Fiorenza and was created to top the fountain (pictured), left incomplete by Micolo Pericoli (called "il Tribolo"), currently in Villa La Petraia in Florence, Italy. (To clarify, we do not have the fountain photographed.)
The water comes out of her hair as she squeezes it out of her locks. A finely detailed sculpture that is really hard to find.
This is such a stunning piece of art that would accent a garden beautifully and would make a great addition for any art collector. Enjoy.
