Beautiful original lithograph titled, The First Snow, and signed by well known artist and illustrator, Gordon Hope Grant.
The image measures 12 1/2" x 10", the inside of matting measures 18 1/8" x 15 5/8" and the frame measures 19 3/16" x 16 3/4".
The lithograph features a New England town village with the Marina and open water to the left.
Gordon Hope Grant was born in 1875 in San Francisco, California and he passed away in 1962 in New York City.
Grant is known for his etchings and paintings of marine subjects. He is also known for his works of New England, as he spent most of his time at the sea at Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Gloucester and the Cape. He was very close to the village and their people.
He was also known for his marine watercolors, etchings and magazine illustrations.
His work as an illustrator included Pulp Fiction for Popular Detective Magazine in the 1930's, as well as for children's and adult books. He was a combat artist for Harper's Weekly and was honored numerous time by the American Watercolor Society. The four-month sail around Cape Horn has always been a huge influence toward his career.
