Beautiful early Chinese hanging oil jar from the Qing dynasty period.

Measures 8 1/2" tall.

Circa 1740.

This gorgeous oil jar features two men resting on flower stems while flying floral kites and some floral designs throughout, 4 facial applied handles for hanging that are intact, the original matching domed lid with a Chinese symbol and an applied scroll spout. The entire imagery on this piece is exceptional and has very strong bold strokes.

On the domed lid you will find a Chinese symbol and in researching, I am wondering if it is the Chinese character for prosperity, but unsure, as I do not know the whole language well, but we are trying to learn as we go. If you happen to know, we would love to hear from you.

This is a very beautiful and great piece in exceptional condition for the period. It is structurally sound and there are no repairs hairlines , chips or cracks.

This is an absolutely gorgeous hanging oil jar that would accent any kitchen well maybe hanging from a beam or would be a very beautiful addition to any Oriental collector.
