Beautiful, monumental Japanese Kutani charger please of hard porcelain.
Circa 1926 - 1928 and measures 18 1/4”.
The charger was made for the depiction of the Nikko Temple. Absolutely gorgeous with the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
The Nikko temple was built by the son of Tokugawa Leyasu in 1617 for the love of his father, the Shogun of Japan.
The raised white enamel decoration and intricate high gold art work is all hand done against a wonderful green foliage and deep reds of the temple and surrounding borders.
This charger is signed Kutani, Makuzu Kozan ll being the decorator and Kutain being the famous kiln. The condition is wonderful, looking as if it has not been taken out of the original wood box. This fabulous piece is of the Showa Empire period and dates to 1926 - 1928.
Kutani produced some of the highest quality porcelains of this era, including the Meiji period. This piece is of the highest quality and workmanship, with amazing detail.
The original wood box that it came in is 20" x 20" square and 5 inches deep. Enjoy!!
