Estate, important, William Corning Stacy oil painting, noted Burlington, Vermont artist (1836-1919), of what we think is Lake Champlain at Sunset.

This is an important painting, as it is signed by the artist and it has been relined. There are very few of his paintings known of his that are signed. Normally his paintings are not signed and are attributed to him.

William Stacy painted the coat of arms which hung over the speaker's chair in the House of Representatives for many years. Measuring 46” by 34”, with an image showing size of 33 3/4” by 22 1/2“, this is a very impressive painting, showing a woman in the lower part carrying wheat.
