Beautiful Royal Worcester Set of 11 Hand Painted Butterfly 7 1/2" Plates - Circa 1886
Beautiful Royal Worcester, set of 12, hand painted butterfly leaf plates from the late 19th Century.
Circa 1886 and they measure 7 1/2". Each are marked with the purple mark, starting in 1876 the crown sits down onto the circle, the mark can appear in any color, the Royal Worcester standard printed factory mark includes the number 51 in the center, which refers to the year 1751, which is when the Worcester Porcelain Company was founded by Dr. John Wall. From 1877 the year number was dropped, as they used this dating system prior, in favor of the letter system, which carried on the same sequence. The letter below the circle on all the plates is X; therefore, the date code would be 1886.
These gorgeous plates are of high quality, hand painted flowers around the outer part of the plates with three butterflies done on a leaf shaped plate with gold gilding throughout, as well as gold done on the outer edging. You will see impressed veins from the leaf in the porcelain done in a light cream.
This beautiful set of 11 is in wonderful condition. We have a 12th plate that has a chip, so we are including that one, a great and stunning set.
Would definitely accentuate a dining area or hutch well. A great addition for a collector!
