Circa, Tang Dynasty (618-907) and measures 15” tall x 11 1/2” long x 5” wide.

Features a beautiful Bactrian camel done in terracotta and has saddlebags, which feature images of monster masks.

This fine sculpture retains a nice matte paint over pottery finish with some normal wear for the period.  There are traces of paint done in red and black.

It was often found that these Mingqi tomb figures of the Bactrian camel were often placed in the tombs of the dead to protect them from evil. The Mingqi placed in the tombs, were usually placed in tombs of the wealthy around Northern China during the Tang Dynasty.

This is an exceptional example from an Anthropologist who worked in China. A great historical addition for any collector.
