Georges Geefs Huge Bronze Life Size Sculpture Bust, A F Vanaerschodt - Circa 1895
A great Georges bust of a distinguished gentleman done by Georges Geefs in 1895. George Geefs is the sculptor who did the monumental sculpture of the Roman Gladiator in front of the De Young Museum in San Francisco, California, according to the Smithsonian. (As written in #39 of National Identity and Nineteenth-Century Franco-Belgian Sculpture by Jane Wijnsouw).
This bronze has great original patina and is life size. The detail of the bust is excellent and the marble base conforms nice with the bust. The figural marble is rouge and cream.
Weighs 75 pounds and measures 30" tall with the base, 19 1/2" wide and 13" deep.
