The estate purchased the teapot and coffee pot from the Meriden Silver Co. and when deciding to purchase the creamer and sugar in 1898 found that The Meriden Silver Co. had been bought out by The International Silver Co. This is why there is a difference in the mark, same company, but now a different name with a minor difference in the pattern. Just a great set in fine condition. This set is extremely rare and the hand hammering brings out the beautiful beauty of the designs. Just absolutely stunning!
You won't find many sets in such great condition for the period, as well as finding different patterns complementing each other really well. The creamer does have a very, very minor soft dent.
For a quick hallmark education, since the tea and coffee pots are different dates, as the creamer and sugar: Meriden Company bought out International Silver Company in 1896. The Coffee and Tea Pots date about 1900 and the sugar and creamer date 1900 - 1910, as the Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co.'s hallmark was used for many years into the 20th Century by the International Silver Company.
This set would look absolutely stunning in any dining setting, especially a breakfast or lunch area. A great addition for any collector!
