Rare Pre-Columbian Colima Terracotta Squatting Figure - 1st Century BC to 2nd Century AD
Fresh out of a private collection started about the 1960's to the 1970's, we have the privilege to offer you this rare Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima Terracotta squatting figure artifact.
Circa 1st Century B.C. - 2nd Century A.D and measures 8.5" high x 5" long x 4.5" depth.
Featuring a squatting figure with his arms crossed. He appears to have a wrapping around his head with a hole in both ears maybe for earrings. Featuring stunning colors of rusty red, brown, gray and black. Just a stunning ancient artifact.
This monumental figure is in original, ancient condition with no restoration or repainting. Some minor nicks, abrasions and a few stress fractures to the underside of the right arm to the back, which is shown in picture #7 with one starting between the hips and upper leg, which is also shown in picture #7. Another stress fracture to the underside of the left knee, which is shown in picture #2 with one on the side of the stomach to the waist, which is also shown in picture #2. This is all natural for historical artifacts of this age. All commensurate with age, being 2000 years old, it is a wonder they even exist.
This piece is an authentic, genuine artifact from West Mexico. Please review the photographs thoroughly for the condition, this is very important. If you have any questions, please let us know.
This is just one piece out of many from the Estate collection in our gallery and would look absolutely stunning in any setting. Great addition for any Pre-Columbian artifact collector.
