Rare gold Orotone photograph by Joseph Hall Studios of a card from the Old Judge Card Series by Joseph Hall Studios, N. Y in 1888 for the Goodwin & Co. Tobacco Co. of John A. "Jocko" Flynn.
Done to promote Goodwin & Co. cigarettes. Only a few gold orotone baseball photos are known to exist. Orotones are a very expensive process.
Jocko Flynn was a famous baseball pitcher who won 23 games playing for the Chicago White Stockings. This was a record for a rookie pitcher. He played for Omaha in the Western Association.
Measuring 5” x 7”, a full plate, it is in good vintage condition. It retains its original frame and backing, the frame measuring 8 3/4” by 10 3/4”. Sorry for the glare in the photographs.
